Springfield man charged with felony DWI, meth possession following fatality accident

A Walnut Shade woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident 3:13 p.m. Monday on northbound U. S. 65 at MO 176 two and a half miles south of Saddlebrooke.

The driver of the other vehicle, Richard S. Rogers, 48, Springfield, was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2013 Ford F150 driven by Richard S. Rogers, 48, Springfield, was northbound on U. S. 65 and crossed over onto MO 176 where a 2012 Nissan Rogue driven by Sandra Puckett, 55, Walnut Shade, was stopped at a stop sign.








The Rogers vehicle struck the Puckett vehicle with both vehicles going down an embankment.

Dr. Jacob Baalman at Cox Hospital, Branson, pronounced Puckett dead at 4:04 p.m.

A passenger in the Puckett vehicle, Matthew N. Puckett, 32, Walnut Shade, was treated for serious injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

The fatality was the 57th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
