Springfield man arrested for felony DWI after hitting, killing 2-year-old

A Springfield man was cited for felony driving while intoxicated after running over and killing a 2-year-old Springfield boy 9:53 a.m. today on Blackman Road one mile east of Springfield.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Cory B. Stapp, 43, Springfield, traveled forward and struck the child.








Dr. Dustin Gammon at Mercy Springfield pronounced the child dead at 10:38 a.m.

The fatality was the 50th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
