Sidewalk upgrade project to begin on routes in Lawrence, Greene counties

MoDOT: Project to Upgrade Sidewalks Along Various Routes in Lawrence & Greene Counties
To Begin the Week of July 10


A project to upgrade sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, along various routes in Lawrence and Greene Counties, to begin the week of July 10, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

At times, driveways and business entrances may be gravel as crews remove sections of sidewalks that run across to install new pavement. Contractor crews, working with the businesses, are ensuring access to all businesses remain open during the work.









Drivers are urged to use caution as they travel over gravel at times at driveways and business entrances to reach their destinations.

Here’s a look at the project:

Contractor crews upgrading sidewalks to conform to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, including replacing sidewalk, removing sidewalks, installing crosswalks, curb, gutter and curb ramps and updating pedestrian signals, pavement marking and updating signs







Work will be done in the following locations:

Lawrence CountyBusiness 60 between Lewis Shaw Avenue and Oak Avenue in Aurora
Missouri Route 39 between Madison Street and Hadley Street in Aurora
Route H between north of 5th Street and 1st Street in Freistatt
Route DD between Hobbs Street and Missouri Route 39 in Miller
Missouri Route 39 between 1st Street and south of Route DD in Miller
Loop 44 at Hickory Street in Mt. Vernon
Missouri Route 37 between east of Elm Street and west of Olive Street in Pierce City
Missouri Route 97 between Madison Street and Front Street in Pierce City
Route P between Adams Street and Second Street in Verona
Greene CountyMissouri Route 174 between Lindsey Avenue and Walnut Avenue in Republic

Greene County Route P from U.S. Route 60 to Grace Street in Republic







Driveway concrete replaced in half sections and temporary gravel driveways will be provided to allow access to the property

Drivers may encounter flaggers and lane drops where crews are working

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

D & E Plumbing & Heating, Inc., Nixa is doing the work for a low bid amount of $2.9 million.

The project is to be completed by November 1, 2024.
