Two DWI arrests made during Springfield checkpoint

(From the Springfield Police Department)

The Springfield Police Department, in collaboration with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other members of the Central Ozarks Regional DWI Task Force, conducted a sobriety checkpoint last night on Campbell Avenue at Sunset Street. A total of 546 motorists were contacted during the two hours the checkpoint was in operation. Two drivers were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and three were arrested for outstanding warrants.

The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.

Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.

Drunk driving is not worth the consequences – remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
