Springfield woman killed in two-vehicle accident on 65

A Springfield woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident 4 p.m. Monday on U. S. 65, 4.3 miles south of Ozark.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Jerrie M. Traister, 59, Springfield, struck the rear of a 2014 Buick Enclave driven by Gary L. Bruntzel, 74, Nixa. The Traister vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and became airborne. It struck a stop sign and rolled over several times before coming to rest on its top in a ditch.

Traister was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Coroner Mandy Armitage at 5:32 p.m.

The fatality was the sixth for Troop D in September and the 81st for 2016.
