Historic Commercial Street to kick off fall season

(From the City of Springfield)

Historic Commercial Street will kick off the fall season with a weekend of special events Sept. 16 - 17.

The fun begins with an Alleyway Art Party and Dr. Tickle Memorial Sculpture unveiling 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16 located in the alleyway between Boonville Avenue and Campbell Avenue.

Saturday brings the advent of fall produce to the C-Street City Market and two special events located along the sidewalks and parking lots of the district.

The second annual Chalk Walk features local artists creating murals on sidewalks near the Market and in front of participating businesses to help raise awareness and funds for Harmony House.

The first annual C-Street Swap Meet will take place in parking lots throughout the district. This event will encourage the community to "consciously and deliberately participate in the law of circulation." Booth spaces are still available.
