Billings woman drowns as car caught in flood waters near Clever

A Billings woman drowned 2:34 p.m. Saturday when her car due to flood waters on Highway K, 1.6 miles south of Clever.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Madelaine H. Krueger, 72, was a passenger in the vehicle. Her husband attempted to rescue her as the vehicle was being swept away by rushing water.

Krueger was pronounced dead at the scene by Stone County Coroner John Cunnynghan. The drowning incident was the first for Highway Patrol Troop D in 2017.
