A Strafford man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on Route PP, four miles west of Fordland.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1994 Ford Ranger driven by Jeffrey A. Symmonds, 31, Strafford, traveled off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox, then overcorrected, returning to the road and overturned several times ejecting the driver.
Symmonds was pronounced dead at the scene by Webster County Deputy Coroner Robert Jernigan at 6:35 a.m.
A passenger, Michael S. Williams, 29, Fordland, was treated for moderate injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
The fatality was the 34th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
