A Springfield swimmer drowned 6:45 p.m. Sunday at Masters Cove on Stockton Lake.
According to the Highway Patrol report, Nathan S. Buckhanan, 20, Springfield, left the designated swim area, swam to a buoy, started struggling and went under the water.
Cedar County Coroner Nora Powell pronounced Buckhanan dead at the scene.
The drowning was the second of 2017 for Highway Patrol Troop D.
