The Springfield Police Department, in cooperation with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and other members of the Central Ozarks Regional DWI Task Force conducted a sobriety checkpoint beginning on May 5 at Glenstone Avenue and Catalpa Street. A total of 665 motorists were contacted during the four hours the checkpoint was in operation. Four drivers were arrested for Driving While Impaired as well as one for a warrant and one for drug possession arrest.
The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences – remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
