Two injured in three-vehicle accident on 96

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident 9:05 a.m. today on MO 96, three miles east of Miller.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 driven by Lavada V. Root, 79, Miller, was traveling eastbound on 96 and was slowing to make a left turn onto a private drive when it was struck in the rear by a 2016 Dodge Ram driven by Mary A. McDowell, 56, South Greenfield.

Both vehicles traveled into the westbound lane where the Root vehicle was struck by a 2017 Kenworth driven by William L. Sorrells, 41, Springfield. The Sorrells vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned.

Rott and McDowell were treated for minor injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
