Flood advisory issued for Polk, Greene counties

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  SOUTHWESTERN POLK COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  WESTERN GREENE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT.

* AT 616 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. DOPPLER RADAR HAS ESTIMATED
1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAINFALL WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS HAVE FALLEN
ACROSS PORTIONS OF WESTERN GREENE AND SOUTHWESTERN POLK COUNTIES.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING.
  LOCATIONS IN THE ADVISORY INCLUDE...ALDRICH...ASH GROVE...
  BATTLEFIELD...BOIS D`ARC...BOLIVAR...BRIGHTON...CAVE SPRINGS...
  EUDORA...FAIR PLAY...GLIDEWELL...MORRISVILLE...REPUBLIC...
  SACVILLE...SPRINGFIELD...WALNUT GROVE AND WILLARD. CREEKS...STREAMS
  AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE
  DANGERS OF FLOODING.

CROSSINGS...

ROUTE AA AT THE POMME DE TERRE EAST OF BOLIVAR...
ROUTE W AT TURKEY CREEK JUST WEST OF EUDORA...
SCENIC AVENUE IN SOUTHWEST SPRINGFIELD...
ROUTE CC AT KINGS BRANCH 3 MILES NORTH OF EBENEZER...
FARM ROAD 22 AT ASHER CREEK 6 MILES EAST OF WALNUT GROVE.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS RIVER OR STREAM FLOWS ARE ELEVATED OR PONDING
OF WATER IN URBAN OR OTHER AREAS IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. IT TAKES ONLY A FEW INCHES OF
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.
