Drury official statement: We are shocked and saddened by loss of Tyrells

Following requests from multiple media outlets, Drury University would like to offer the following information and statement about the death of Gary Tyrrell.

Tyrrell was an adjunct instructor of history and political science for Drury beginning in the mid-1990s. He taught classes primarily at branch campuses with Drury’s College of Continuing Professional Studies. He also taught some classes at the main campus in Springfield. He last taught for the university in spring 2013.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear about the loss of Gary and his wife. He was a dedicated and well-liked instructor who taught with Drury for many years, and who cared very much for his students,” said Aaron Jones, Dean of Drury’s College of Continuing Professional Studies.
