Greene County deputy uninjured after being dragged by driver in stolen pickup

(From the Greene County Sheriff's Office)

On Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies observed a suspicious vehicle on the parking lot of the Flying J located in the 4900 block of West Chestnut Expressway in western Greene County.

Deputies determined the silver Dodge pickup truck had been reported stolen and they attempted to apprehend the male driver.

The driver fled in the vehicle, briefly dragging a GCSO Deputy with it. The suspect drove the truck into a chain link fence and continued to elude Deputies who were unable to locate the vehicle in the area. Upon further investigation, the vehicle was located crashed and abandoned in the Polk/St. Clair County area.

"Thankfully, our Deputy wasn't hurt, neither was anyone else and there hasn't been any other property damage," states Sheriff Jim Arnott.

Local area law enforcement agencies are still currently searching for the suspect in Henry County; he should be considered armed and dangerous.
