El Dorado Springs woman airlifted to Mercy after crashing into Highway Patrol car, cited for DWI

An El Dorado Springs woman was airlifted to Mercy Hospital, Springfield, with serious injuries after crashing into the rear of a Highway Patrol vehicle 8:40 p.m. Friday on U. S. 54 at SE 801 Road in Collins.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2017 Dodge Charger driven by Samantha L. Smitherman, 26, El Dorado Springs, struck the rear of a 2017 Chevrolet Spark Highway Patrol car driven by Trooper Travis L. Harmon, 26, Springfield.

Harmon was treated for minor injuries.

Smitherman was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, prior offender.
