Three teens killed, fourth flown to Cox South after car becomes airborne, crashes

Three people were killed and two injured in a one-vehicle accident 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Highway B, three miles east of Jerico Springs.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Toyota Scion driven by Clay W. Palmer, 19, Cleveland, MO, topped a hill, became airborne, traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Cedar County Coroner Nora Powell, assisted by Frank Brumfield, pronounced Palmer and two passengers, Logan W. Meerkatz, 18, Cleveland, and Ryan A. Chick, 18, Cabool, dead at the scene.








Another passenger, Bradley K. Kidwell, 18, Cabool, was flown to Cox South Hospital, Springfield, with serious injuries.

Another passenger, Taylor Q. Ranney, 18, Mountain Grove, was treated for moderate injuries at Cox South.

Kidwell was the only one who was wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol report.

The fatalities were the 70th, 71st and 72nd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
