(From the Springfield Police Department)On July 30, 2022, at approximately 2:43 a.m., a Springfield Police officer in the 500 block of South Scenic heard gunfire coming from the area of the White Oak Gas Station at 310 S. Scenic. When officers responded to investigate the shooting, multiple vehicles left the location at a high rate of speed.
One vehicle was later located in a parking lot in the 2800 block of W. Chestnut Expressway. Three males were inside the vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. Two victims, one with a life-threatening injury, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The third victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Jaiden Falls, 18, from Springfield, the critically injured victim, succumbed to his injuries on August 1, 2022. His family has been notified.
At this time, a suspect has not been identified.
Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
This incident marks Springfield’s 12th homicide in 2022.
