(From the Springfield Police Department) On July 30, 2022, at 10:37 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the area Madison Street and Holland Avenue.
Edward Carnell, 57, of Springfield, was found lying in the roadway with trauma to his head and body. The vehicle left the scene of the accident.
Carnell was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His family has been notified.
Officers later located the suspect vehicle, but it was unoccupied. The investigation is on-going and the Springfield Police Department is still seeking the driver. Anyone with information about this incident should call 417-864-1810.
