(From the Springfield Police Department)On August 27, the Springfield Police Department conducted a six-hour saturation patrol focused on arresting impaired drivers. There were 81 vehicles stopped during this patrol.
As a result, five drivers were arrested for driving while intoxicated and one driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work, and the potential loss of a job.
With the holiday weekend approaching, drivers should make plans now for how to safely get home from their holiday celebrations.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences. If you drink and drive, you lose.
The saturation patrol is funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation Traffic and Highway Safety Division.
