We've received reports of another phone scam and our residents being threatened with utility shutoffs if they don't pay $500 within two hours. The caller then asks for your credit card information.
DO NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION.
They are trying to intimidate our utility customers by shutting off power during these extreme cold temperatures.
The City does not disconnect utilities when the temperature is below 32 degrees and we never ask for credit card information over the phone. Please share this information with other Monett utilities customers.
