For the third year in a row, Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO) and Dunkin' stores across the state are teaming up to raise money for Special Olympics Missouri athletes. This Friday, May 17, Springfield Police Officers will be staged at Dunkin' Donuts on 4020 S. Campbell Ave from 5 a.m. to noon.
At this event, you will have the opportunity to receive a free donut coupon for your donation to SOMO. If you donate more than $10 you will receive a free mug and a coffee coupon, while supplies last!
Officers from around Missouri will head to 26 Dunkin’ stores to raise awareness and donations for the Missouri Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Missouri with the hope of raising $20,000 among all the stores in the state.
Special Olympics Missouri athletes, their families and representatives from various law enforcement agencies are among the special guests who will join police officers to show their support. In addition, guests will also have an opportunity to purchase Law Enforcement Torch Run shirts.
"The Missouri Law Enforcement Torch Run is excited to partner with Dunkin’ to help raise awareness about the amazing things Special Olympics accomplishes for people with intellectual disabilities,” said Jim Moran, Missouri LETR State Director. “This partnership will assist law enforcement in its never-ending desire to raise funds so that each and every Missouri resident, both young and old, with intellectual disabilities, will be able to enjoy a life of joy and success through the athletic training and competition offered by Special Olympics Missouri. Dunkin’ knows the rewards Special Olympics provides for our fellow citizens and joins law enforcement in an exciting new endeavor here in Missouri to enlist your support. Come out on May 17 to partner with Dunkin’ and your local law enforcement officers to raise much-needed funds for Special Olympics Missouri."
