According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by Micheal T. Biggs, 51, Reeds Spring, traveled off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Lawrence County Coroner Scott Lakin pronounced a passenger, Robert A. Addington-Wells, 37, Branson West, dead at the scene at 5:44 a.m.
Biggs was treated for serious injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
The fatality was the 33rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
