(From the Springfield Police Department)On August 30, 2023, at 6:36 p.m., the Springfield Police Department responded to the westbound offramp from Interstate 44 to Kansas Expressway for a reported road rage incident that resulted in someone being shot.
Officers arrived and found Michael D. Miller, 39, from Walnut Grove, suffering from gunshot wounds. Miller was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Miller’s family has been notified.
The shooter was identified and remained on scene until officers arrived. Springfield Police Department Homicide Detectives interviewed him; however, no arrest has been made at this time. When the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review and a determination on filing criminal charges.
