Springfield Police Department responds to reports of gunshots, trespassing and hordes of juveniles

Early on Sunday morning, officers responded to Dan Kinney Park to the report of a large group of juveniles in the park after hours.
 
When officers arrived, there were approximately 80 vehicles and 150 people in the park. Officers coordinated their efforts to stop and identify as many of the individuals and vehicles as possible. Officers seized one firearm and dispersed the group of juveniles.

Officers responded to the report of trespassing at 806 N. Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.
Officers contacted Chris York, 30, in the building’s attic. When York refused to leave, SPD’s Crisis Negotiation Team responded. After prolonged negotiations, York was taken into custody.
York was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail for trespassing.

Late on Thursday night last week, officers working downtown heard gunshots in the area near Patton and Walnut.
 
Officers quickly responded to the area and identified Kaleb Hedges, 23, as the suspect. After speaking with the victims, officers arrested Hedges, a convicted felon, and booked him into the Greene County Jail for armed criminal action, 2nd degree assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
