Springfield pedestrian hit by car on I-44, suffers serious injuries

 A Springfield pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by two vehicles 3:46 a.m. today on I-44 eight miles west of Springfield.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by Matthew M. Abbey, 30, Springfield, was approaching a vehicle that had previously crashed when Michael L. Harris, 61, the driver of the crashed vehicle, walked around the vehicle and into the path of the Abbey car, which struck Harris.







The Abbey car was then struck from the rear by a 2020 Honda CRV driven by Ronda E. Bowles, 60, Lexington, Kentucky.

Harris was treated for serious injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
