Officers continued to attempt to get the vehicle to pull over as it went up and down several streets in Aurora. It was immediately suspected that the driver was likely intoxicated because of the erratic driving by weaving all over the roads.
Eventually, our friends with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office joined us in attempting to get this vehicle stopped. Finally, on Elliott near McDonald's, an opportunity presented itself to safely end the pursuit with a Tactical Vehicle Intervention sometimes called a PIT maneuver. The TVI was successful and the vehicle was stopped and the driver was subsequently apprehended.
The driver, Justin Brown of Aurora, was arrested on suspicion of multiple charges including Driving While Intoxicated. Additionally, he was an absconder from the Missouri Department of Corrections and had warrants for his arrest to be returned to their custody. He is considered innocent of all charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
We are dedicated to continuing our efforts to make Aurora and Marionville inhospitable for people who choose to live this lifestyle. Please, change your life or your address.
We are so grateful to the men and women of our agency and surrounding agencies who work seamlessly together to protect our citizens. This situation was no different and we thank LCSO for having our backs and being our partners in criminal justice.
