Members of the Springfield Police Department's Traffic Section conducted an “Operation Safe Ride” enforcement effort Saturday, June 8th.
Operation Safe Ride is an enforcement effort targeting hazardous moving violations that pose a threat to motorcycle operators in Springfield.
Officers stopped a total of 108 motorists during the operation. A total of 71 citations and 83 warnings were issued for various moving and non-moving violations and two arrests were made for driving while intoxicated.
The operation was funded by a Grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation. The Springfield Police Department wants to remind drivers to be vigilant and to watch for motorcycle riders operating on our roadways.
