Seymour teen charged with felony DWI, assault after huffing canned air leads to crash seriously injuring two

A Seymour teen was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony assault following a one-vehicle crash 5:06 p.m. today on Route V, four miles northeast of Seymour.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Brent A. Brinkley, 18, Seymour, lost consciousness after huffing canned air, traveled off the left side of the roadway and slammed into a tree.







A passenger, Willard A. Hedquist, 19, Seymour, was taken to Cox South Hospital, Springfield, with serious injuries.

Brinkley, who was also cited for careless and imprudent driving and for not wearing a seat belt, was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital, Springfield,
