On July 14, 2023, at 12:23 a.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a vehicle crash at Kansas Expressway and I-44.
Following a disturbance, 46-year-old Gary Barlow from Springfield clung to a dark-colored minivan as it traveled northbound on Kansas Expressway and turned onto the eastbound I-44 ramp. Barlow fell from the van onto the I-44 ramp and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Barlow was transported to the hospital and later died. Barlow’s family has been notified.
Neither the dark-colored minivan or the driver have been located, and the incident is under investigation.
