Various road closures will take place on Broadway Avenue and Republic Road June 13-16 as utility and stormwater crews begin construction on improvements related to the Republic Road Widening Phase 3 project. The closures are as follows:
Broadway Avenue will be partially closed south of Republic Road 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13 through 6 a.m. June 14 for utility improvements.
Republic Road will close at Broadway Avenue 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 through 6 a.m. June 15 for utility improvements.
Republic Road will close between Broadway Avenue and Fairview Avenue 8 p.m. Thursday, June 15 through 6 a.m. June 16 for stormwater improvements.
Access to properties will be maintained throughout these closures. All closures are weather pending.
The Republic Road Widening Phase 3 project will widen Republic Road to five lanes from just west of Parkcrest Avenue to Fairview Avenue. The project will include the addition of bike lanes, sidewalks, stormwater infrastructure, gas and water utility renewals, and a new traffic signal at Broadway Avenue and Republic Road.
The estimated cost for construction of the widening project is $2.2 million. The project will be funded through the voter-approved 1/4-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax.
