Springfield police were dispatched to the parking lot of 2636 N. Kansas Expressway at 4:01 p.m. on June 7 for a disturbance where gunshots had been fired.
After officers arrived at the scene, staff at Cox North Hospital called 911 to report that a male subject with a gunshot wound had been driven to the hospital by another person. Officers responded to Cox North Hospital and learned that the male subject with the gunshot wound had been involved in the disturbance earlier at 2636 N. Kansas Expressway. The male victim later died at the hospital and was identified as Adam J. Hilburn, 34, of Springfield. Next of kin notifications have been made for the victim.
A suspect has not been identified at this time. Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-8477.
