A Republic man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 3 a.m. today on Route FF at Farm Road 156, five miles northeast of Republic.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by Gary W. Gruenewald, 32, Republic, ran off the roadway, struck a culvert, a stop sign, a fence and a telephone pole.
Gruenewald, who was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, was also cited for felony leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, driving while revoked, and careless and imprudent driving.
