Citizen advisory committee sets virtual meeting to discuss Springfield CARES Act funding

The Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Development (CACCD) will meet virtually via teleconferencing technology at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 19 for a public hearing on funding recommendations for the $916,138 in additional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds that the City will receive from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a result of Congress’s passage of the CARES Act in response to the economic impacts of COVID-19. A survey was conducted May 1-7 to collect public input about the local impact.

Citizens wishing to sign up to speak at Tuesday’s meeting are required to contact Bob Atchley by noon Monday, May 18 at 417-864-1308 or batchley@springfieldmo.gov. The agenda is located here.

The CACCD provides a forum for public review and comment on the City’s annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.








Citizens who have signed up to attend the meeting will be provided the option to participate electronically from an office at Historic City Hall. Citizens who have experienced any of the following will not be allowed inside:


• Flu-like symptoms
• Respiratory illness (cough, difficulty breathing)
• Fever
• Traveled in the past 14 days to an affected area
• Been exposed to someone who has travelled to an affected area
• Been exposed to someone who has been evaluated for the illness or confirmed illness.
