Springfield Public Schools (SPS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Jason Steingraber will serve as the next principal of Pershing K-8, effective July 1. Dr. Steingraber is the current principal of Wilder Elementary and will follow Mr. Ryan Savage.
"I am honored, humbled and excited to be a part of the Pershing community," said Dr. Steingraber.
"I am looking forward to serving the students, teachers, and families and I can't be more #PershingProud."
Dr. Steingraber has invested 22 years of service with SPS, including a decade of leadership as the principal of Wilder Elementary. Prior experience includes serving as principal of Bowerman Elementary and as a special education process coordinator and a speech-language pathologist.
"We look forward to welcoming Dr. Steingraber to Pershing," said Dr. Shane Dublin, executive director of secondary learning. "He is a proven leader, who is beloved by students, parents and staff, and is well-known and respected across the SPS system. His enthusiasm for this new opportunity is apparent and we look forward to great things ahead."
Dr. Steingraber completed his undergraduate and graduate work in communication disorders at Truman State University, additional graduate work in elementary education administration at Missouri State University, and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis at the University of Missouri.
His wife, Jennifer, has served as a speech-language pathologist with SPS for 22 years. They have two daughters - Emma, a freshman at Truman State University, and Kate, a sophomore at Central High School.
