An Independence man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 11:10 p.m. Monday on westbound I-44 at the four mile marker, three miles west of Springfield.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Larry R. McQueen, 31, Independence, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a rock, overturned and struck a road sign. McQueen was ejected.
McQueen was pronounced dead at the scene at investigator Noah Cross of the Greene County Medical Examiner's office.
The fatality was the 56th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
