Five people were injured in a one-vehicle accident 8:35 a.m. today on Route V in Mount Vernon.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Chevrolet Econoline driven by Betty K. Austin, 76, Springfield, ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.
Five passengers, DeMarqus Deaner, 10, Caleb Denny, 11, Corey Denny, 9, Jordan Denny, 9, and Tristan Zachary, 12, were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
