(From the Springfield Police Department)On April 17, 2023, at 6:51 p.m., the Springfield Police Department responded to the report of someone who had been shot in a vehicle at the intersection of Forest Ave. and Calhoun St. The male passenger and female driver had multiple gunshot wounds.
The male victim, Lavelle C. Rose III, 18, from East St. Louis, Illinois, was pronounced dead on scene. Rose’s family has been notified.
The female was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A suspect has not been identified in this case.
Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
This incident is Springfield’s third homicide investigation in 2023.
