(From Aurora and Marionville Police Department)Last night, AMPD attempted a traffic stop on hwy 60 for several traffic violations. The black Mercedes passenger car failed to yield and engaged our officers in a pursuit. The pursuit continued into Republic and eventually ended on James River Freeway.
The driver was subsequently identified as Steven Hopkins of Springfield. He was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and was a wanted fugitive out of state. He is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
We want to thank our neighboring agencies for assisting us in bringing Hopkins into custody and getting him and his poison off the street. He was transported back to Lawrence County and turned over to the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of felony charges being filed.
