Murder charges to be filed against Springfield teen after shooting at intersection of Kansas Avenue and Mount Vernon

Springfield Police were dispatched to the intersection of Kansas Ave. and Mount Vernon after a 911 caller reported a traffic accident at that location.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound inside the vehicle. The victim was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital where he died the next day (Dec. 14, 2019).

The victim was identified as Gerardo Aguilar-Hernandez, a 28-year-old male from Springfield. Next-of-kin notifications have been made for the victim. 








Officers arrested Pedro Bolanos, a 17-year-old male from Springfield, shortly after he fled the scene. The charge of first-degree-assault with no bond was filed by the Greene County Prosecutor. 

Due to the death of the victim after charges were filed, a new charge of murder will be presented to the Greene County Prosecutor.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
