Portion of West Mount Vernon Street to close for 10 weeks

West Mount Vernon Street will close between Nolting Avenue and Laurel Avenue for approximately ten weeks beginning Tuesday, May 29 for utility work associated with the Mount Vernon Street Improvements Project. Mount Vernon is expected to reopen to traffic in mid-August.

The Mount Vernon Street Improvements Project will involve Public Works crews lowering the crest of the hill on Mount Vernon Street. The project will improve sight distance for drivers and accessibility for pedestrians and make ADA improvements to sidewalks.

Motorists are advised to use the marked detour, using Laurel Avenue to State Street to Western Avenue.
