Monett veteran's dogs poisoned with combination of hamburger and anti-freeze

Springfield's Fox station KRBK has a horrifying report of two dogs who served our country overseas then were poisoned when they followed a Monett soldier home to what should have been the relative safety of southwest Missouri.

When Wade Fowler's dogs began exhibiting unusual behavior, losing their balance and throwing up, Fowler took them to the Monett Animal Clinic:

From the KRBK report:

"They asked us if we fed them hamburger meat and we said, ‘No, they eat dog food.’ The vet thought that someone had fed them hamburger meat mixed with anti-freeze," he explains.

Kratos died Wednesday and Foxi yesterday morning. With their buddy, a neighbor dog, coming to pay her respects at their grave Fowler says he doesn’t know why someone would want to poison his dogs that helped him get back into the daily routine of civilian life.

"Just having that companion or companions with you, to be there for you, there always happy to see you when you come home. It’s just nice having that comfort 24/7," he says.

At this point, there seem to be no clues as to who killed the dogs. According to the report, the Monett and Pierce City police departments have not had any other recent reports of dog poisonings.
