Crystal Magers named Sherwood Elementary principal

(From Springfield Public Schools)

Mrs. Crystal Magers has been named principal of Sherwood Elementary, replacing Dr. Nicole Holt, who will transition to the role of director of professional learning for the 2018-2019 school year.

Mrs. Magers began her career with Springfield Public Schools as a first-grade teacher at York Elementary School in 2006, followed by teaching at Harrison Elementary. She became assistant to the principal at Wilson’s Creek 5-6 School and Gray Elementary in 2013 for one year, and has served the Sequiota Elementary community as principal since 2014.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve the Sherwood community as their leader,” said Mrs. Magers. “For the last twelve years, I have served students in Springfield as a teacher and leader and am truly passionate about inspiring all students to see their true potential and worth. I am eager to collaborate and learn alongside the Sherwood staff, families, students and community. The best part of my job as a leader is the opportunity to support teachers and watch students achieve more than they dreamed they would. I am honored to join the Sherwood team and look forward to building relationships with each and every family.”

“I’m expecting wonderful learning and experiences to continue at Sherwood Elementary under the leadership of Mrs. Magers,” said Dr. J. Anderson, executive director of elementary learning for SPS. “She brings a level of high expectations that match the expectations and practices by the amazing staff at Sherwood.”

Mrs. Magers holds a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational administration from Missouri State University, and is currently a doctoral student at Southwest Baptist University.
