Mount Vernon nonagenarians seriously injured, three others hurt in collision on 39

Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident 10:10 a.m. Sunday on MO 39, four miles north of Mount Vernon.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2016 Honda Accord driven by John J. Lomas, 95, Mount Vernon, pulled from a private drive into the path of a 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Edna N. Hoskins, 73, Miller.

Lomas and a passenger in his vehicle, Helen I Lomas, 90, Mount Vernon, were treated for serious injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

Hoskins and a passenger in her vehicle, Tammy K. Dinwiddie, 45, Springfield, were treated for minor injuries and another passenger, Jimmy R. Dinwiddie, 11, Springfield, for moderate injuries at Cox.
