A Springfield woman who had just been ejected from a vehicle following a crash 3:05 a.m. today on eastbound I-44 six miles east of Marshfield , was run over by another vehicle and killed.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2009 Ford Escape driven by Alexander W. Witt, 21, Marshfield, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.
Witt was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Springfield.
A passenger, Madison K. Bell, 18, Springfield, was ejected from the vehicle and into the roadway where she was struck by another vehicle that did not stop.
Webster County Coroner Michael Taylor pronounced Bell dead at the scene at 3:45 a.m.
The fatality was the 119th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
