Springfield man charged with manslaughter, assault in connection with fatality crash

On Oct. 23, 2023, following the review of the motor vehicle crash fatality case that killed Domingues Buenrostro on Oct. 14, 2023, the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office is charging Andrew Irizarry-Sierra with 1st degree manslaughter and 2nd degree assault.

Irizarry-Sierra was located, arrested, and booked into the Greene County Jail on Oct. 23. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.








The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office cautions that the charges contained in the felony complaint are merely allegations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.

On Oct. 14, 2023, at 10:54 p.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at Sunshine and National.

Andrew Irizarry-Sierra, 38, of Springfield, was driving a black 2014 Ford Taurus east on Sunshine when he collided with the rear of a stationary purple 2016 Toyota Rav 4. The Rav 4 was driven by Glen Westerhouse, 28, of Springfield, and Domingues Buenrostro, 26, of Springfield was a passenger. 

The Rav 4 was facing eastbound on Sunshine when the Taurus struck it in the passenger rear corner. Irizarry-Sierra and Westerhouse were transported to the hospital for their injuries.






 

Buenrostro was also transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Buenrostro’s family has been notified.

Speed is believed to be a factor in this crash.

The investigation is ongoing as to the circumstances involved in the crash. This was Springfield’s 22nd fatal motor vehicle crash in 2023
