A Strafford man was struck and killed by a train 3:48 p.m. Saturday on Route DD, a half mile east of Springfield.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a Burlington Northern General Electric locomotive driven by Ron Fosdick, 36, Springfield, struck Jeff L. Dade, 57, Strafford, who was walking eastbound on the railroad tracks.
Dade was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:30 p.m. by Greene County Medical Examiner Mike Laphere.
The fatality was the 127th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
