The Springfield Police Department offered a response to this CNN report earlier this week, taking responsibility for past mistakes that have been made and saying that is committed to testing all rape kits and to treating victims respectfully.
The department changed its response to sexual assault cases in 2014.
The CNN report, which accompanies this post, details the case of a four-year-old girl whose sexual assault investigation was botched by the police department and by the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
