Brighton pedestrian killed by semi on 13 near Springfield

A Brighton pedestrian was killed 3:55 a.m. today on MO 13 at Route WW, four miles north of Springfield.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2007 Peterbilt driven by Cecil A. Snyder, 56, Conway, traveling northbound on 13, struck William L. Hawkins, 49, Brighton, who stepped out onto the highway.

Forensic technician Michael Lamphere pronounced Hawkins dead at the scene at 4:14 a.m.

The fatality was the 13th this month and the 79th for the year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
