Mount Vernon Street will reopen to traffic between Orchard Crest Avenue and Suburban Avenue beginning 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2. In addition, the intersection of Mount Vernon Street and Orchard Crest Avenue has been converted to an all way stop.
Motorists are advised to use caution while crews continue construction on sidewalk and final road grading over the next two weeks.
The Mt. Vernon Street Widening Project has involved widening Mount Vernon to three lanes, improving the existing stormwater system, upgrading gas and water lines and constructing sidewalks on both sides of Mt. Vernon. Funding for the project is from the voter-approved ¼-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax. The contractor is Hartman & Company.
