Parolee who permanently injured Greene County deputy sentenced to 30 years

On December 11, 2020, parolee Seth Hay, while fleeing from law enforcement, intentionally drove his vehicle into Greene County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Westbrook’s patrol car. 

Lt Westbrook who was stopped and outside of his vehicle was attempting to deploy tire deflation devices (Stop Sticks) to stop the pursuit. 

Lieutenant Steve Westbrook suffered serious injuries, which even after eighteen months of medical treatment and rehabilitation have altered his life forever.








Tuesday, in the Missouri 30th Judicial Circuit (Polk County), the Honorable Judge Michael Hendrickson sentenced Seth Hay to the Missouri Department of Corrections for the maximum number of years allowed under his plea agreement. 

Seth Hay will serve the following sentences consecutively.
 
Charge: Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop By Fleeing - Creating A Substantial Risk Of Serious Injury/Death To Any Person
{ Felony E RSMo: 575.150 }
Sentence: 5 Years
Charge: Assault - 2nd Degree - Special Victim
{ Felony B RSMo: 565.052 }
Sentence: 25 Years
